Commercial Generator FAQs

commercial generator

Having a commercial generator installed is a big investment, and we understand you might have questions. Here are some of the most common questions we answer about commercial generators.

What will a commercial generator power?

Here’s the cool thing about backup generators – you can have them power as much or as little as you need. Need to supply power to your entire industrial warehouse? No problem. Just need to keep the lights on in one office? We can help with that too. We can help you find a generator that will supply the right amount of power for what you need to keep running during a power outage.

How long does a backup generator last?

While we can’t really give a hard-and-fast answer here, in general, most backup generators will last about 10,000 to 30,000 operating hours. It’s not outrageous to see a generator still working well at 20 or 30 years old. A lot of a generator’s life expectancy relies on how well its maintained. Just like changing the oil in your vehicle, you should be sure to maintain your generator to keep it operating properly when you need it. What good is a generator if you can’t use it?

How often does a commercial generator need to be serviced?

The answer to this depends on the type and use of the generator. A large generator that powers, say, a healthcare facility should be serviced frequently to ensure the safety of the patients and staff in a power outage. A generator that powers a small office or retail space may not need to be serviced as frequently. We offer generator maintenance packages customized to your needs. Whether your generator needs maintenance every month, or just once a year, we can help.

Do I need a generator for my business?

The short answer – yes. (We’ve even written a whole blog about why a commercial generator is so important for businesses.) From protecting your customers, employees, data, equipment, reputation, and bottom line – we firmly believe no business should be without a plan for backup power.
